You Have to Write

“The direct, you-can-do-it approach will stimulate kids to write…a great motivator. “

Many kids write about made-up things—wizards, aliens, and fantasy lives. If those are the subjects and genres that they love, that’s terrific—but too often they write about these things because they’re afraid that their own lives are boring. They’re worried that no one would want to read about them. I want kids to celebrate their everyday lives, to be proud of the little things that they’ve seen and done, to find joy in riding the swings—then writing about it—and to make heroes of their family members and themselves.

a pep talk for young authors!
